Sir,

Okay, I have read what happened on 03/02/97 with the same officers. It

sounds as if you were not treated fairly in that situation with those two

particular officers. And indeed you seem to have a valid complaint against

those two officers. But those two officers make everyone of us officers worth

killing? To me that makes as much sense as what happened to you. I think

that the old saying applies here: " Two wrongs do not make a right." You may

not believe me and to me it sounds as if you are beginning to get angry with

me when you have not even met me. I still believe you have a right to voice

your opinion and I will respect your opinion, but I will not respect the

aspect of killing police officers or anyone else for that matter because of a

monetary value.

However, I am glad that you had the sense enough to take this to IA because

I do not want to work with "bad" cops. They seem to give everyone a bad name

when they do things such as that. But just as someone who murders, robs,

steals and etc. gives whatever race they are from the stereotype that everyone

from that same race, social level and etc. the same "name". I want you to

know that under the circumstances that you have presented I would not have

arrested you. That is not something that is frequently done in the dept where

I work. In fact I have never heard of one case where that has happened (at

least in the time that I have been associated with them.) If you think about

it I am being quite fair at this time, even though I am up against a great

deal of hostility for my choosen profession. I could just comdemn you for

what you are saying but as I said then I would not be getting the entire story

now would I?

I am not going to sit here and tell you that every police officer is a saint

because then I would be lying. But it is also lying to say that every citizen

is a saint. I am sure that I could and would be considered a "bad" person and

cop under some peoples watchful eyes. I will tell you something about myself

and you can condemn me if you would like, but I think that I am a "bad" cop

because I have feelings for an

investigator in my dept who happens to be married. I guess that is my down

falling so that when I met people on the streets I can never speak down to

them because I could never be above them.

The officers you had a run in with are officers who take the badge that they

wear as a symbol that they are better then everyone else. Believe me they do

not need help to get hurt because they will give themselves their own help. I

know some officers at my dept who have just started that work that way and I

can stop watching my watch for their time to come when someone gives them

problems.

Sincerely,

Officer Amanda M. Ferry Badge# 151

Tuscaloosa Police Dept.

Thanks, but no thanks for the title of the nobility, as in [Sir]
but I wish you all of the best.
